On Saturday, 15th October, 2016 at the Desert Trip Festival, the audience was stunned when Paul McCartney introduced Rihanna to the stage. Last weekend i.e. on 8th October, 2016 at the California festival, the ex-Beatle performed for two and a half hour that included some of his best hits. Nonetheless, he was back again this weekend when he invited Rihanna on the stage for performing a rendition of their hit collaboration, FourFiveSeconds.
Joking about the festival, McCartney said they had finally discovered someone under the age of 50. The festival included some amazing performances from Bob Dylan and The Rolling Stones. The 74-year-old had also been joined onstage by Neil Young for performing A Day in the Life, which was meshed up with Why Don’t We Do It in the Road and Give Peace a Chance by John Lennon, similar to what they had done a week earlier.
This performance had come only two days after Paul had taken the stage in nearby Pioneertown at Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace on Thursday, 13th October 2016. Speaking at the gig, Paul said this was the biggest gig they had ever played where he had performed a number of hits such as A Hard Day’s Night, Hey Jude, I Saw Her Standing There and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. It is clear that McCartney is having a lot of fun during his time at the desert.
Last weekend, on the first night of the festival, which was on October 7th, he showed up in a VIP suite for watching The Rolling Stones perform. As a matter of fact, he also pumped his fists in the air and cheered when the band performed a cover of Come Together of The Beatles during their set at the inaugural Desert Trip. The two-weekend festival will come to an end on Sunday, with sets from Roger Waters and The Who.
